Eurynome 1, Ophion 0.  or Titan vs Titan.

From the Pelasgian Creation Myth of Ancient Greece.  Effectively the first fight between male and female.  In the myth,   Eurynome, the creator of the Cosmos, couples with her  third creation: Ophion,  the snake.  They couple, she gives birth to an egg, and  Ophion keeps it warm.  However after egg cracks open,  Ophion takes credit for the creation of the universe.  Eurynome, enraged,  stomps on Ophion's head,  and kicks out his jaw.  Life imitating art imitating life.  A reoccurring theme in world creation myths,  and not just Ancient Greek: the snake gets hurt!

Was on view at Blue Mountain Gallery, 547   W27th ave, suite 200 , New York NY in August 2024.
