This is Fragility Diffraction.

Four women who look appear "normal" are in reality are not.    They  are facing  or faced significant turmoil. All are on the verge of a mental health crisis.   This painting uses wave optic / light effects; Diffraction and Resolving Power.  I am using these terms poetically as one truly can not see the edges around an object visually or the vitality of another soul.

works.

I am continuing to work on my oil paintings.  Sometimes it is easy, and other times it is hard and time consuming.  Hopefully I will get to work with a live model in a few months

?Indifference  Early Fall 2024. oil on canvas

Why ?Indifference?  Patient care kills the clinician, slowly.  All that is left is a body.  Intensive Hospitalist Physician  measures can not cure the lost soul of the  modern healthcare professional.

New Painting; Mourning Daniel

Recent painting.

Subject:  the experience of parents,  surrounded by the mythical figures.  All cultures experience the death of a child. It is as startlingly, difficult time; especially for the parents.  However this image depicts a premature child, still connected to medical equipment that  never left the hospital since birth.

Eurynome 1, Ophion 0.  or Titan vs Titan.

From the Pelasgian Creation Myth of Ancient Greece.  Effectively the first fight between male and female.  In the myth,   Eurynome, the creator of the Cosmos, couples with her  third creation: Ophion,  the snake.  They couple, she gives birth to an egg, and  Ophion keeps it warm.  However after egg cracks open,  Ophion takes credit for the creation of the universe.  Eurynome, enraged,  stomps on Ophion's head,  and kicks out his jaw.  Life imitating art imitating life.  A reoccurring theme in world creation myths,  and not just Ancient Greek: the snake gets hurt!

Was on view at Blue Mountain Gallery, 547   W27th ave, suite 200 , New York NY in August 2024.
